Actress. She will be best remembered for her roles as a daughter, girl, or maid, usually with the names of 'Josie,' 'Betty,'' Nellie,' 'Madge,' or 'Tiny,' in several "Jerry" films known as "Cub Comedies" which were directed by Milton J. Fahrney and starred actor George Ovey in that particular character role some of which include, "Jerry's Elopement" (1916), "Jerry And The Moonshiners" (1916), "Jerry And The Counterfeiters" (1916), "Jerry's Romance" (1917), "Jerry's Triple Alliance" (1917), and "Jerry And The Burglars" (1917). She was born in New York City, New York, as Clara Cecilia Alexander to Thomas Alexander and his wife Agnes C. Cleary Alexander on January 6, 1897, (some sources say 1898 or 1900). She was educated locally and later moved with her family to California when she was a teenager. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, California, her father became the Technical Director at MGM Studios. She won Hollywood, California's first bathing beauty contest where movie stars competed and then began her own career in acting after being discovered by and signed to a contract by the director David Horsley who often put her in the role of an ingenue. A star of the silent film era, she was known for her petite size. She was just four feet, ten inches tall, and weighed 90 pounds. She wore children's sized shoes and was a leading lady when films were usually just shot on location in old barns, tents, and vacant lots. She made her actual film debut in the role of 'Eloise Monroe' in the comedy film, "A Girl Of Yesterday" (1915). The film which was directed by Allan Dwan and also starred Mary Pickford and Jack Pickford tells the story of a girl with old-fashioned values who becomes a modern sophisticate. The film which was filmed at Rockwell Field, North Island, Coronado, California, and in Griffith Park in Los Angeles, California, was originally released by Famous Players Film Company on October 7, 1915, and is now considered a 'lost film.' Besides, "A Girl Of Yesterday" (1915),"Jerry's Elopement" (1916), "Jerry And The Moonshiners" (1916), "Jerry And The Counterfeiters" (1916), "Jerry's Romance" (1917), "Jerry's Triple Alliance" (1917), and "Jerry And The Burglars" (1917), her many other film credits include, "The Traitor" (1916), "Jerry's Perfect Day" (1916), "Jerry's Big Lark" (1916), "Jerry's Big Haul" (1916), "The Hero Of The E.Z. Ranch" (1916), "Jerry's Stratagem" (1916), "When Jerry Goes To Town" (1916), "Jerry's Celebration" (1916), "The Rookie" (1916), "Jerry And The Bandits" (1916), "Making Things Hum" (1916), "The Blackhanders" (1916), "Jerry's Double Header" (1916), "Jerry's Winning Way" (1917), "Jerry's Big Doings" (1917), "Jerry And The Outlaws" (1917), "Jerry's Big Raid" (1917), "Jerry's Big Mystery" (1917), "Jerry's Brilliant Scheme" (1917), "Jerry's Romance" (1917), "Minding The Baby" (1917), "Be Sure You're Right" (1917), "The Lady Detective" (1917), "Somewhere In The Mountains" (1917), "The Ransom" (1917), "Jerry's Trial" (1917), "Jerry's Picnic" (1917), "Jerry's Finishing Touch" (1917), "Jerry Joins The Army" (1917), "Jerry's Master Stroke" (1917), "Jerry's Red Hot Trail" (1917), "Jerry's Star Bout" (1917), "Red, White And Blew" (1917), "Jerry's Big Stunt" (1917), "Jerry On The Railroad" (1917), "Beach Nuts" (1917), "Jerry's Eugenic Marriage" (1917), "Jerry Tries Again" (1917), "Jerry's Whirlwind Finish" (1917), "Jerry In Yodel Land" (1917), "Jerry And The Bully" (1917), "Jerry's Jam" (1917), "Jerry's Soft Snap" (1917), "Jerry's Lucky Day" (1917), "Jerry's Running Fight" (1917), "Jerry's Victory" (1917), "Jerry Takes Gas" (1917), "Jerry's Boarding House" (1917), "Jerry's Double Cross" (1917), "Jerry's Best Friend" (1917), "Child Of M'sieu" (1919), "A Pair Of Deuces" (1919), and her last film, director Alf Goulding's comedy short, "Charlie, The Hero" (1919). She retired from acting shortly thereafter and moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with her husband Hollywood cameraman George "Duke" Zalibra whom she married in December of 1917. She then moved to Reno, Nevada, where her husband was arrested for forgery in 1920. In 1922, she divorced him and moved back to Los Angeles, California, where she met and married for the second time to Richard Franklin Collins on December 12, 1924. They remained married until her death. She passed away in Alhambra, California, on November 16, 1927, at the age of 30, from pulmonary edema related to double pneumonia. She was buried in Calvary Cemetery in East Los Angeles, California.
