Zoe, at age 19, entered Carlisle Indian School (PA) 6 Oct 1879 and departed there 23 Jun 1880, at the age of 29. She listed her father as Joseph Prue and at Carlisle she is entered on school records as Zonie MacKenzie, having previously been married to Baptist McKenzie. With Zoe at Carlisle is her 7 year old son, Valentine Mckenzie. Zoe worked as a matron at the school and when she and her son departed school, record states Valentine is ill.

Marriage Record: Rosebud Mission Church Records, Book A, #007856517, Image 152 a marriage rite between Daniel Phillip Hollow Horn Bear, 24 and Zoe Prue (McKenzie), 34, both residing at Rosebud DT, took place on Monday, 4 Aug 1884 at the Church of Jesus, Rosebud, DT. Marriage rite was performed by Wm. J. Cleveland. Parent of the groom is "Mazapankeska" and parents of the bride are Joseph Prue and wife. Witnesses to the marriage are Wm. B. Schmidt, Mollie Prue and Mrs. Prue.

"Butte Creek District. Mrs. Zoe Brave Bird died last Saturday, March 30, 1912. She was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Prue, Sr. She was sixty-two years old. Besides her many relations and friends, she had some children,. Valentine McKenzie of Jordan, Tripp county, being the oldest son."
