Lillie "Bill" Stamey Adams, 86, died Oct. 14, 2006 in the Wesley Commons Healthcare Center after a long illness.

She was born in Joe, NC, a daughter of the late Tillman Forest and Callie Balding Stamey. She was the last surviving child of 20 children. Mrs. Adams was a devoted wife to her husband of 59 years, Rev. Louis M. Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Adams were foster parents and worked with children throughout the state for many years. As the wife of a United Methodist Church minister, she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Lowell Street United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Adams was a loving mother of a son, the late Joseph Boyce Adams who was killed in action in 1968 while serving in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

She is survived by her husband, Louis Adams and many nieces and nephews.
