CHESTER F. SCHMIDT

Mr. Chester F. Schmidt, 82, formerly of Miami Shores, Fla., died Friday evening, Jan. 31 at North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc. Private family memorial services having been held and cremation will follow.
Mr. Schmidt was born March 20, 1902 at Dorchester, Wis., son of the late William F. and Allie Wright Schmidt. He attended schools in Rib Lake and graduated from the High School there in 1919. From there he attended Kent College of Law and graduated in 1925. Mr. Schmidt was admitted to the Wisconsin Bar in 1927. He was a World War II Veteran serving with the 32nd Airborn Division in Europe. He married Hazel Medway January 25, 1948 at Milwaukee and the couple residing in Milwaukee. Mr. Schmidt was affiliated with U.S. Fidelity and Guarantee Company of Milwaukee for many years. His wife preceded him in death in 1975 and he came to Manitowoc to make his home in 1983. Mr. Schmidt was a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge No. 13 of Milwaukee and also of Tripoli Shrine of Milwaukee.
Survivors include a sister, Miss Mildred M. Schmidt of Manitowoc; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Viola Schmidt; two nieces; three cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by a brother.
The Jens Funeral Home and Crematory, Manitowoc, is assisting the family in funeral arrangements. There will be no visitation.
