Pamela A. Waitman died unexpectedly, Monday, November 4, 2019. Pam’s life can be described in one sentence. “She loved her dogs, her family and friends and her Florida State Seminoles.” Born in 1954 in Belle Glade, FL, she eventually wound up in Evansville.

She worked at WEHT-TV and American General Finance and was also a free-lance writer. She officially retired in 2018. I was fortunate to have met her at WEHT. She and I were married on February 26, 1983. Our family has consisted of lots of canines over almost 37 years of marriage. She and I pursued dog-showing and field dog events on a fairly regular basis. After my love for these activities waned Pam continued on her own. She was very independent. She would load up her Jeep Commander and take her dogs to venues all over the Country where she always met up with her dear (dog people) friends. She was very active in the American Pointer Club. She chaired the Health Committee for many years. She took this work very seriously. Her goal was to improve breeding practices and canine health through scientific research. Pam was very active and healthy. She would run her Pointer, Eli, every morning at the 4H Center. She had missed the run the last few days because of pain in her back/shoulder. Little did we know there was an aortic aneurysm waiting inside her. It took her from us quickly.

Pam is survived by husband Gabe; sister, Debbie Meeks; and brother-in-law, Bob Meeks of Georgia; brother-in-law, Randy Waitman of Evansville; nephew, Ben Meeks and his son, Eli of Georgia; niece, Lindsey Theodoro and her husband Paulo of Florida; and niece, Meghan Meeks and her wife Angie Barley also of Georgia. The entire family did its best to get together every year at Christmas. The list of Pam’s friends is a long one. She had wonderful friends from high school and college with whom she maintained contact. She loved having lunch with many of the close friends that she had accumulated during her work career. Pam will be missed by one and all. She had a lot more life to live and a lot more Love to give. I can only hope that she was greeted by all our wonderful dogs that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and she would never forgive me if I didn’t finish this off with her favorite war cry, “Go ‘Noles!”
