Alton Overton Pruden, 72, of Marcella Road, Hampton, Virginia transitioned Monday, December 30, 2019. He was the son of the late Minnie Cross and Harry Bryant.

He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School afterwards he matriculated to Old Dominion University and later joined the United States Army. He was employed with the Newport News Shipyard with 25 years of faithful and dedicated service and 10 years at QVC.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Shawntal Pruden of Newports News, Va and Tamara Pruden of Hampton, VA; one son, Christopher Wood of Suffolk, VA; two sisters, Beulah Taylor and Mary Crockett both of Maryland; three brothers, Harry Bryant (Estelle) of Maryland, Robert Pruden of Suffolk, VA, and Linwood Beamon of Maryland; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a devoted special friend Thelma Hardy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
