He was born on August 14, 1931 in Mount Vernon to Jess and Hazel (Fletcher) Welker. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a navy veteran of the Korean War and a 42-year employee of Cooper Energy Services. He had been a flagman at the Mount Vernon Speedway for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Erina (Madias) Welker; 2 daughters, Mrs. Tom (Cathy) Hedges of Mount Vernon and Mrs. Charles (Christine) Kerin of Fairview Park; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Welker.
Private services were held today at Mound View Cemetery, with Mr. Robert Allen officiating. The North-Dilley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
