James Welker, 54, 115 W. Pleasant Street, died this morning at 1:25 a.m. in Mercy Hospital after a long illness. He was a machinist at Cooper-Bessemer Co., a veteran of World War II and a member of the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; 1 daughter, Susan; 2 sons, Richard and John, all of the home; his parents, Mrs. And Mrs. Jess Welker of Mount Vernon; and 1 brother, Carroll, Mount Vernon.
Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at North Funeral Home, where the funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. The rev. Clarence Achberger will officiate and burial will be in Mound View Cemetery.
