Joe Thompson met sudden death at West Mineral

Joseph Thompson a resident of West Mineral for the past twenty years met with sudden death by a fall down the evevator shaft of the Eagle building monday morning.

Mr. Thompsonwas helping move some chairs from the Eagle building which were to be used in the county fair. The chairs were being broubght down stairs on the frieght elevator.

The elevator had been stopped slightly above the landing. He stepped upon it to lower it when the cable suddenly broke allowing Mr. Thompson to fall to the ground with the elevator. The fall to the lower floor was not more than ten or twelve feet, but Mr. Thompson sustained injuries from which he died a few hours later.

Lowing instructiors:: Prof. Ringle of est residents of Wes tMinerial, having been in the livery business there practically from the time the town was started.

Mrs. Thompson died only few months ago, also the oldest son Joe Jr. who was killed in a mine accident by a fall of rock less than two years ago.

Another son was killed in big mine explosition at Frontenac many years ago.

Mr. Thompson was born in England and in company with his wife visited the old home a few years ago. He is surivied by two sons and one daughter. (Found record - that Joseph and Margureite departed from Liverpool England, Aug 1 1908 arrive in New York Aug 8 1908)
