Nathaniel "Pa" Adams of Zachary departed this life on Friday, July 20, 2007, in Pontiac, Mich. He was 65, a native of Baton Rouge and a 29-year resident of Pontiac. He retired as an engineer for the General Motors Powerhouse in Pontiac. Before moving to Michigan, he was a gospel singer with the Zion Travelers Spiritual Singers and the Spiritual Five.

Survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Adams; two sons, Tony Adams and Darvin and wife Virgie Adams, all of Pontiac; three grandchildren, Darvin Jr., Tre'von and Ashley Adams, all of Pontiac; sister, Shirley Jean and husband Washington Cummings of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Amos and wife Marie Adams of Baton Rouge, and Richard and wife Janice Adams of LaPlace; mother-in-law, Mamie Banford of Zachary; brothers-in-law, Morris C. Jiles of Pontiac, Mack Henry Palmer and Lionel Banford, both of Baton Rouge; sisters-in-law, Susan Banford Ratcliff and Deborah Palmer Simon, both of Baton Rouge, and Gaynell Banford Dowe of Pontiac; special family member, McFranklin Palmer; and goddaughter, Tasha Brooks.

Preceded in death by his father, Walter Adams Sr.; mother, Eva Spruel Adams; two brothers, Walter Adams Jr. and Ulysses Adams; a sister, Julia Mae Adams Jiles; and his father-in-law.

Visiting at Hall's Celebration Center, Scenic Highway. Religious service at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 9700 Scenic Highway, Jesse Bilberry, pastor, officiated by the Rev. Henry Frazier of Greater Oak Baptist Church of Zachary. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens.

He attended North Scotlandville Elementary School and Scotlandville Junior-Senior High School.
