RITES READ FOR APPERSON

Albert Beverly ("Bevvy") Apperson, 85, long staunch member of McMinnville Elks and Knights of Pythias, passed away Sunday, December 9. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 12 at Macy's chapel, followed by private committal at Portland Memorial.

A retired railroad clerk, he was born September 8, 1866 at Oregon City, as the son of Albert John Apperson and Eloise Cook. He attended school in McMinnville until 1884, was associated with his father in a general merchandise store from 1884 until 1889, when he moved to Omaha and became associated with the O.W.R & N. Railway company. He left the O.W.R.N. in 1912 and went to work for S.P. & S. in 1918 and worked for the company until he retired in 1937.

He was married first to Jennie Thomas in 1900, who passed away in 1902. He married later in 1906 to Saddie Roson. He joined the Elks in Vancouver about 1912, transferred to McMinnville lodge in 1945. He joined the K.P. in 1894 as charter member of McMinnville. He was made a life member a few years ago.

Surviving him are one son, Donald Apperson of Salem, and a step-son, Willis Thomas, San Francisco, California.Sunday Oregonian Dec. 16, 1951 pg 45
