Mary Priscilla Harris (Butler) (Waters) Baskerville

Mrs. Priscilla H. Baskerville, retired school principal and civic worker, of Glen Burnie, was buried last Friday in Arbutus Memorial Park. Funeral services were at the Madison Ave. Presbyterian Church.

A native of Long Green, Md., she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Charlotte Lindsay Harris. She was educated in the public schools and graduated from the old Colored Normal School, now called Coppin State Teachers’ College.

Her first teaching assignment was in St. Mary’s County, Md. It was there she met and married her first husband, the late Samuel Butler. Of this union, three children were born. They are Mrs. Elizabeth Bly, with whom she made her home; Mrs. Florence David of New York; and Leonard Butler, Tarrytown, N.Y., all of whom survive.

Mr. Butler died while the children were young. In 1922, she was married to Arnold Waters, Catonsville real estate operator. He died in 1935. She married Mr. Baskerville in February 1949.

Mrs. Baskerville also taught at the Seventh St. Graded School in Frederick, and was principal of the Brown’s Wood Graded School and the Town Neck Graded School in Anne Arundel County. When she retired, she was at the Town Neck School.

In addition to her three children, Mrs. Baskerville is survived by two stepdaughters, Miss Bertha Baskerville and Mrs. Junetta Newman, both of Baltimore. Also, two sons-in-law, Mr. Eddie Bly of Glen Burnie, and John David, N.Y.
