Viola Mae Allen went to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus on October 17, 2009. Even though she will be missed, her family is rejoicing in the fact that she is in Jesus' presence and in His loving arms. Viola was confident in the fact of Jesus' grace and His promise; "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord", and Viola is indeed there rejoicing with Jesus.

Viola was born in La Junta, Colorado on March 24, 1922 to Louis and Hilda (Foste) Box. She was raised in the Rocky Ford area and graduated from Rocky Ford High School before joining the Navy during World War II. She married Eugene V. Allen on July 19, 1946 in Rocky Ford. On July 24, 1966 Viola committed her life and heart to Jesus. She was a member of Valley Community Church of Rocky Ford.

She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed greatly by her entire family, who will one day see her again and spend eternity with her.

She is survived by husband, Eugene V. Allen of Evergreen Gardens in La Junta; daughter, Sharron (Billie) Johnson of La Junta; sons Dennis (Linda) Allen of Greeley and Weldon (Jan) Allen of Grand Junction; granddaughters, Tami (Joey) Bernal of Fountain, Debbie Dutro of La Junta, Christi (Marco) Montez of Grand Junction; grandsons, Trevor Allen of Grand Junction, Chris Allen of Sterling, and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Lea Box; brother, Eugene (Edith) Box of Henderson, Nev.; sisters, Norma Jean Lloyd of Rocky Ford, LaVerne Pachta of Bosque Farms, N.M.; sister-in-law, Zoma Allen, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Harvey Box, brother-in-law Norman Lloyd, brother-in-law Jack Pachta, numerous brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
