On Monday, September 27th, Norma Jean Lloyd (87 years of age) passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord in her beloved hometown of Rocky Ford, Colorado. Norma was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and pillar of her community.
Norma Jean was born on April 14th, 1934, to Louis Box and Hilda Mae Box. She had five siblings, Viola (Gene) Allen, Harvey (Lea) Box, Edgar Eugene (Tune) (Edith) Box, La Verne (Jack) Pacta, and Matilda Box, who was taken to the Lord at the time of her birth. Norma Jean is survived by her brother, Edgar Eugene Box, and greeted her four other siblings in Heaven.
Norma Jean had two daughters, Jaqluin Lloyd and Gail Thompson, six grandchildren; Courtney Bickmore Rupp, Audrey Bickmore, David Thompson, Thomas Thompson, Rachel Stetson, and Keisha Gildea. She was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews, including Sharron Schoenfelder, who was particularly attentive and dedicated to Norma Jean. Additionally, Normal Jean had numerous great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Norma Jean had an innate sense of service as a result of her upbringing and dedication to the task at hand commensurate with the size of her servant's heart. Her love for her savior Jesus Christ and her family, as well as the resiliency and strength of spirit that permeated her life, served as an inspiration to family and friends alike. She knew no strangers and would give anything for the benefit of others.
Although Norma Jean was born into and lifted from this world in Rocky Ford, Colorado, she spent a number of years with her family and two granddaughters, Courtney and Audrey, in Portland, Oregon. This is a time her granddaughters cherish and remember fondly filled with beautiful memories that forged a bond with Norma Jean that outpaced the time and distance of life.
The love of Norma Jean's life was Norman Lloyd; they shared a beautiful life and love together. Her family finds peace in knowing that she is now in Heaven with her sweet Norman after many years of patiently waiting to be reunited with him.
As the proud daughter of a Rocky Ford Police Officer, Patrolman Louis Box, fallen in the line of duty on April 18th, 1945, when she was just a young girl, Norma Jean had a familial and deeply rooted relationship with generations of officers of the Rocky Ford Police Department.
