Following an illness on just one week, Mrs Clara Jarred Abernathy, 67, of 202 Commercial St., Danville, IL died at the residence at about 12:30 p.m. Friday (Feb. 12, 1943).She was born September 5, 1875 at Coal Creek Fountain County Indiana, the daughter of Andrew Jackson Jarred and Catherine Ann "Kitty" Willson Jarred. She had been a resident of Danville 23 years. Surviving are the husband Samuel Luther Abernathy, and the following children Mrs. William Basinger, Mrs. Ray DeRome and Miss Bessie Abernathy all of Danville and Mrs. Glen Davis and Mrs. Russell Jones both of Tilton, a sister-in-law, Mrs Walter (Julia Berto) Jarred of Stringtown also, 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 children, her father in 1887, her mother in 1901 an infant brother Edward Jarred in 1873, her sister Mrs. Austin (Viola) Crowder in 1895 and a brother Walter Jarred in 1939 The body was taken to the residence on Saturday to await services 2:30 p.m. Monday at Tilton Christian Church Rev C. E. Stanley of the South Side Nazarene Church officiated. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Callahan Funeral Home was in charge.
