Marie Kathryn Bell passed away on January 29th, 2020 at the age of 96 in The Villages, Florida.
Married for 54 years, she was the mother of five daughters and a force to be reckoned with.
Marie is survived by her children, Patricia Jones, Barbara Bell, Theresa Duncan and Elizabeth Splendorio, as well as her sons-in-law, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Born Marie Barker in 1923, Marie grew up during the Depression as the oldest of four sisters and one brother. In 1945, she married the love of her life, Edward John Bell, who later became Police Commissioner for the city of Philadelphia.

In 1968, Marie and Edward moved their family to Pompano Beach, Florida, where Marie worked as an engineering manager while continuing to raise her five daughters. In 1993, the two retired to The Villages, where Marie was active in several dance groups. Next to family, dance was her great passion. She performed regularly across the region with her group, including several show-stopping numbers at Disney World.

Marie was a faithful and devoted member of Saint Timothy's Catholic Church for over 25 years. Her faith was everything to her, grounding her in humor and humility throughout difficult times in her life. Thanks to her brilliant mind and sharp wit, Marie was always a joy to be around. But her greatest gift of all was compassion without judgement. She loved her family, her church, and was a friend to all.

Marie has set a powerful example of love, faith, and good humor that will serve as a guiding light for her family for generations to come. A service celebrating her life will be held at St Timothy's on Friday, February 14 at 8:30 AM. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charities near to Marie's heart: Autism Speaks and JDRF.
