Professional Baseball Player. He was a right-handed hitting and throwing outfielder who occasionally played first and third base. He played for sixteen seasons with the Atlanta Braves (1966), New York Yankees (1967-1969), Philadelphia Phillies (1972-1974), Pittsburgh Pirates, (1975-1982), and again with the Philadelphia Phillies (1982-1983). He was a member of the 1979 World Series champion Pirates. Robinson's career statistics included a .258 batting average with 166 home runs and 641 RBI in 1,472 games played. After his playing career, Robinson worked as a major and minor league coach, a minor league manager, and a television analyst. A highly regarded instructor, he earned World Series rings as batting and first base coach for the 1986 New York Mets and hitting coach for the 2003 Florida Marlins. At the time of his death, he was employed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as their minor league hitting coordinator.
