Mr. Robert Eugene Tiner, Sr. died Sunday, January 5, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Tiner was adopted by Will and Laura Tiner at the age of 9 months and was brought to Hentown, GA, where he spent most of his life. He was educated at New Hope School for grades 1-7 and Damascus High School grades 8-12. After graduation Mr. Tiner attended Abraham Baldwin College for 2 years, University of Georgia for 2 years, and Grady Hospital School of Medical Technology working part time as an ambulance attendant at Grady Memorial Hospital during that period. While taking additional college courses at Georgia State University from 1963-1967, Mr. Tiner was employed as a Med Tech in the Atlanta area. At the end of 1967 he moved to Damascus, GA and was employed at Early Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home as a Med Tech, X-ray Tech, and EMT, from 1968-1971. After returning to school at GA Southwestern College and Magnolia Manor Medical Complex in Americus, GA, Mr. Tiner completed a 6 month internship as a Nursing Home Administrator licensed by State of Georgia as NHA. In 1972, he was employed as Assistant Administrator at Early Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home while continuing college studies in Administrators Development Program for 1 year at University of Alabama at Birmingham, AL. Mr. Tiner was then promoted to Administrator of Early Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home and retired from this position after 23 years. He was employed for a short time as Interim Administrator of Beverly Health Care Tifton, GA.
Mr. Tiner served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1969, 1000 bed U.S. Army Hospital, Atlanta, GA, Atlanta Army Depot GA, Fort Jackson Columbia, SC, Fort Gordon, Augusta, GA, Fort Polk, LA, Fort Bragg, NC. and was an Honorary Lt. Col. Aide De Camp for Governor Joe Frank Harris of GA during his Governship. He was a member of Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church where he was a member of the Board of Trustees Building Committee and was an active member in the community. He was a member of the Magnolia Lodge #87, The Gerald Grow American Legion Post #165, where he was Commander, the Albany Hasan Temple, Past President of Blakely Rotary Club, Active Early County Red Cross Chapter, Heart Fund, Cancer Fund Drive, and Chamber of Commerce Directory.

He is survived by:
one son of Blakely, GA
four daughters and a son-in-law of Blakely, GA, Donalsonville, GA, and Damascus, GA
10 grandchildren
2 great grandchildren
two sisters and their husbands of Columbus, GA and San Antonio, TX.

Mr. Tiner was preceded in death by:
his wife, Grier Haddock
one daughter, Jill Tiner
his parents, Will and Laura Lea Daniels Tiner

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Kent Barwick and Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment followed at Eternal Rest Memory Gardens with Military Honors.
