He was a farmer, veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City, Missouri.
James is survived by seven sons: Terry Cahalan of Monett, Randy Cahalan of Sugar Loaf, Pennsylvania, Mark Cahalan of Greenfield, Missouri, Kenny Cahalan of Pierce City, Joe Cahalan of Pierce City, Patrick Cahalan of Carl Junction and Jim Cahalan of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; four daughters: Kay Batson of Verona, Connie Cahalan of Ashland, Missouri, Lori Neil of Monett, and Mary Abramovitz of Wentworth; one sister: Agnes Kahre of Aurora; sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Genevieve and two brothers: Lawrence and Vincent.
Rosary for James is being held on Tuesday February 11, 2020 at 6:00p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri with visitation to immediately follow the Rosary until 8:00p.m. Funeral Mass is being held on Wednesday February 12, 2020 at 2:00p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City, Missouri with Father Paul Pudhota officiating. Burial next to his wife will follow Mass at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Pierce City, Missouri.
