Melvin Colwell, 97, of Glen Burnie, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020. Melvin was born on May 24, 1922, in Baltimore, Maryland and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class during World War II. He was also proud of his career as a Steel Burner at Bethlehem Steel for over 30 years. Melvin was a member of the American Legion Post 40, the VFW, and Jerry’s Club. He enjoyed gardening, feeding birds & squirrels, golfing, bowling, fishing, and was a handyman that enjoyed painting.

Melvin was predeceased by his devoted wife, Mildred Marie Dolores Colwell, and their two children, Richard Cavey and Karen Santoni. He is survived by his loving children, Mildred (David) Easterling, Cathy (Joe) Manalansan, Barbara (Chris) Ashby, Melvin (Sandy) Colwell, and Clifton “Butch” (Vicky) Cavey; his 16 beloved grandchildren, and 29 cherished great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy), on Thursday, February 20th, from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 21st, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Oaklawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Melvin’s name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org
