Born in Belton, he was a son of the late Clarence Grover and Ola Palestine King Ellison and the husband of Christine Talley Ellison.
Rev. Ellison was retired from J. P. Stevens - Parker Plant and was the founding pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Belton. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for 44 years, where he taught Sunday School.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 47 years, are two daughters, Phyllis Sellman and husband, Gary, of Easley and Angie Watson and husband, Tony, of Liberty; a son, Greg Ellison and wife, Debbie, of Greenville; a sister, Lola Dyer; four brothers, Robert G., James A., David, and Ed Ellison; seven grandchildren, Shannon, Josh, Kalyn, Ashley, Rachel, Austin and Meredith.
He was predeceased by a sister, Leona Austin; and a brother, Greenlee Ellison.
Burial in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
