Samuel Wilson married Elizabeth "Eliza" Jane Keffer in 1864. Eliza was born in Missouri in April 1838 and died in Colusa County, California, sometime before August 1918. The Wilsons had a farm outside Leesville, Colusa County, California. Eliza was the mother of 9 children (1900 US Census).

SAMUEL WILSON DEAD
Samuel Wilson, aged 78 years, died yesterday at his home in the Lodoga section of the infirmities incident to extreme age. The funeral and burial will take place tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at Leesville. Sullivan Bros., Colusa undertakers, will have charge of the burial. The deceased leaves four sons and three daughters, they are; Frank, Thomas, Lawrence, and Lonnie Wilson; Miss Silvia Wilson, Mrs. Hasting [sic], and Mrs. Cora Sites [sic]. Mr Wilson was one of the best known residents in the western part of this county and his death will be deeply mourned by a host of friends.
