Death of Mrs. Annie K. Wartmann. Died, in Citra, Florida, on the 11th of December, 1896, Mrs. Annie R. Wartmann, wife of H. T. Wartmann, in the 66th year of her age. She was the youngest daughter of Major Abraham Byrd, of Rockingham County, Va. She leaves behind a sorrow-stricken husband, one son and one daughter, two brothers and one sister, to mourn their loss. A step-son and daughter are among the end ones. To those she was as fully devoted and loving as to her own children ; and no children ever loved more ardently or served more faithfully their mother than did these children. She was for more than forty years a faithful, consistent, and active member of the M. E. church, South, and in all the relations of life, as daughter, sister, mother, wife, and neighbor, she was true, and devoted to every duty and obligation. She was quiet, yet earnest, undemonstrative yet zealous; and in every good word and work was untiring and true. Her whole life, at all times and everywhere, was a living commentary upon the power of the religion of Christ. Her last end was calm and peaceful, and as she neared the Jordan of Death the light of the home beyond cast its brightness upon her pale cheeks, and when the death sleep came her face was as calm and serene as that of a slumbering babe. One son, Otis, and one daughter, Rebecca, preceded her to the land far away. "Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep."
