Daniel R Eshelman, age 66, of Erie, died at St Vincent Health Center, Wednesday, February 8, 2012. Born in Corry, he was a son of the late Elvin and Florence (Silvis) Eshelman. Daniel served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He loved creating things from wood. He was a real people person and enjoyed helping others. Daniel was a volunteer at the VA Medical Center and was a volunteer firefighter with the Columbus, PA, Fire Department. He was a history buff and had great interest in the Civil War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Troy and Jerry Eshelman. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Ellen (Chitester) Eshelman, whom he married August 30, 1969; two daughters, Yvonne Jost, husband, Eric and Danelle Fields, husband, Ron; two brothers, Elvin Eshelman, Jr and Jim Eshelman; two sisters, Gayle Cohn and Faith Powers; three grandchildren, Christopher Burke, and Meghann and Gypsy Jost; five grand cats; and several VA buddies. Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W 38th St at Greengarden Blvd, Tuesday from 10 am until the service at noon, with Rev Lee Pomeroy, pastor of Summit United Methodist Church, presiding.
