3242/3243 Corporal A Blanks, 1st Battalion the Essex Regiment. From Warley, Essex, England. Served in South Africa during during the Second Anglo Boer War 1899-1902. Wounded at Driefontein on 10 March 1900. Died unmarried aged 23 years of enteric fever (typhoid) at the Imperial Yeomanry Hospital, Deelfontein, Cape Colony, South Africa. He is also commemorated on the Essex Regiment Boer War memorial in the Essex Regimental Chapel, Warley, Brentwood, Essex, England, and on the Essex Regiment Boer War memorial in Bell Meadow Park, Chelmsford, Essex, England.
