Actress. She will be best remembered for playing the role of the creepy Bayou Woman in the horror film, "The Skeleton Key" (2005), which also starred Kate Hudson and Gena Rowlands. Born Marion Schexnaydre in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was a prominent fixture in the acting world of the State of Louisiana and an important stage actress before deciding to appear in films in her later years. She began her acting career by appearing in numerous stage productions including, "Separate Tables And Anastasia," "The Lion In Winter," "The Heiress," and "A Room Full Of Roses," at such locales as the Gallery Circle Theater and the Le Petit Theater. She also appeared in stage productions in Tulane's Shakespeare Festival and was a director and appeared in productions for the French language theater, Les Comedians Francais. She made her official film debut as 'Maria Lebrun' in the drama "Grand Isle" (1991). Besides, "Grand Isle" (1991), and "The Skeleton Key" (2005), her other film credits include, "The Adventures Of Huck Finn" (1993), "Undercover Blues" (1993), "Heaven's Prisoners" (1996), "Crazy In Alabama" (1999), "Malpractice" (2001), and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (2008). On television, she appeared in the 2005 three-part mini-series "Elvis," playing the King of Rock 'n' Roll's grandmother Minnie Mae Hood Presley. She also appeared in numerous television commercials including for State Farm Life Insurance. A longtime member of the American Federation of TV and Radio Artists and the Screen Actors Guild, she received The Big Easy's Life Time Achievement Award for her dedication to acting in 1996. She was married to the educator and actor Leo Zinser from 1959 until his death in 1984. She passed away in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the age of 92.
