Mrs. Will Brown, a negro woman formerly a resident of Waurika, was attacked and choked to death by a negro man at her home in Pratt, Kansas, Friday [June 26, 1920]. The man had been boarding at the home, and when the husband was away, he sent the children away from the house on errands and then attacked Mrs. Brown and choked her to death with a rope. The negro was arrested before he made his escape.
Mrs. Brown was a daughter of Henry Lacey of Waurika. The Browns lived her until a few months ago. Brown is a Baptist preacher and was also employed at the Rock Island yards here. He was transferred to the Pratt, Kansas, yards a few months ago. The body was brought here for burial Sunday.
