He was the son of Daniel and Maudie Schriver Race and the third husband of Genevieve H. (Jennie) Stanton, Clark, Carney.
He was originally buried in the East Dyberry Cemetery but when that (the original) cemetery, was moved to make way for the Jadwin Dam, Cecil Carney had him (and his brother Leo Dell Carney) reintered in the Torrey Church Cemetery.

Lowell Race, 61, Waymart, R. D. 2, died Wednesday night at home following a long illness. Deceased was born in Sherman, Wayne County, February 16, 1879, the son of Daniel and Amanda Race. He was a member of the Baptist church, Honesdale. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Peter Hansen, Dyberry: three stepsons, Ferris Carney, Steene; Hurley Carney, Torrey; and Cecil, Dyberry; a sister, Mrs. Anthony Deitz, Binghamton, N. Y.; two brothers, Fred and Alvin, both of Sidney, N. Y. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the home at two o'clock with the Rev. George Wendell, Baptist church, officiating. Interment, East Dyberry cemetery.
