Goldie Sanders passed away at age 99, Friday, August 26, 2005 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Goldie was born in Detroit, Michigan, October 9, 1905 to Curtis Newton Risk and Matilda Margaret Nash.

Goldie and her brother, Norman came to California with parents at an early age. She spent most of her school years in Stockton, California. She worked as a secretary for Southern Pacific Railroad in Stockton and later for Caterpillar Tractor Company, in San Leandro, CA. She married Melvin B. Aird on December 26, 1940 in Oakland, CA. They retired to Berry Creek, CA, in 1969. Melvin died in 1986.
Goldie moved to Paradise, CA in 1986. In 1988 she married Roy W. Sanders of Golden, CO. Upon his death in 1989 she returned to live in Paradise near her brother, Norman E. Risk, who died in 1995.Both her husbands died as the result of accidents.
Goldie was a very special and intelligent woman, she walked across the Golden Gate Bridge before cars were allowed to travel on it. Goldie bought her first computer at age 95.

She cooked and walked daily and was in great health up until her last day, she was looking forward to her 100th birthday celebration.

Goldie was parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a member of Paradise Genealogical Society and Republican Women. She traveled quite extensively over the years.

Beloved son Michael C. Aird lives in Sacramento, CA, stepson; Clark B. Sanders lives in Albany, OR and numerous nieces and nephews survive her. She moved to Lake Kiowa, TX, in November 2004 to live with her beloved niece, Penelope Barrett.
Funeral mass will be held, October 11, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Paradise, CA, a celebration of her life will follow. Interment of cremains in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward, CA, October 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m.
