Edmund was the son of Syrena (Meeker) Bartlett 1794-1859, memorial #76916435 and Johnathan (Jonathan) Bartlett 1786-1848, memorial #76916434. Edmund is the brother of Emily Bartlett 1815-1900 # 76916433, Captain Orlando Bartlett 1823-1899 (born in LeRay, NY and died in Kansas) #206252129, Lucinda Bartlett-Barker 1825-1895, #157712515, Sgt. Orson Bartlett 1830-1873 (born in LeRay, New York and died in Kansas) #207328517, and Almira Bartlett 1835-1862, #76916432. Brother Alfred (born abt 1826 and died in Oswego, NY) was not mentioned until Emily's Probate in 1900. Cynthia Bartlett 1817-1862 is not mentioned in any documents, but there are Ancestry DNA connections to Cynthia Bartlett's descendants and Edmund Bartlett's descendants. Edmund is the grandson of Jonathan Bartlett born in 1734 Springfield, Hampden MA, memorial #221152841. He is the grandson of Sarah (maiden name unknown), born in 1736 in Springfield, Hampden, Massachusetts, memorial #221153188. Edmund's father, Johnathan (Jonathan), was a War of 1812 soldier. Edmund's grandfather and great-grandfather served as town officials in Ludlow, MA during the Revolutionary War.

Edmund married Lucy Carnes (1841-1877), #208138500, on June 30, 1870 in a home in Watertown, New York. The couple's children were Emma Bartlett-Gibson 1870-1936, #130898131, Lloyd Bartlett 1875-1949, #156939697 and Clara Bartlett 1877-1935, #156939677. Edmund's wife Lucy died at 36 years of age, while Clara was still a baby, and census records show Clara lived with her Aunt Lucinda Bartlett-Barker after her mother's death, and her sister Emma Gibson with her family when she was in her 20's and then later is her 50's. According to the 1880 census record, Edmund's sister Emily lived with Edmund, most likely to help take care of his children Emma and Lloyd after Lucy died. Emily was 65 years old at the time!

Edmund was a Master Carpenter and Joiner (according to census records and Edmund son Lloyd's obituary). Edmund built his home located on 29 Lynde Street, Watertown, NY. Later the street was split into east and west. The house is located on West Lynde Street today under a different number. As a Master Carpenter and Joiner, Edmund most likely built many colonial homes in the City of Watertown in the mid to late 1800's. Edmund bought and sold properties in Watertown (see his Family Search page), which made him an original builder and flipper before the term became popular.

Edmund was buried on August 3, 1895 and interred in the Sanford Corners Cemetery, Jefferson County, New York according to his attached obituary and death certificate. See Family Search link (document in memories section):

The church records for the cemetery burnt down in the early 1900's. I searched the cemetery in the summer of 2020 and 2021, but could not find Edmund's grave (there is an open space in the row in front and back of his father Johnathan's gravesite in Sanford Corners).
