Morning Union - Grass Valley, Nevada County, California - November 17, 1916:
"MANY MOURN FOR OLD RIDGE RESIDENT -- The funeral of the late Mrs. Nancy P. Woodruff took place yesterday afternoon from her late home on Harper street. Walter P. King, Christian Science practitioner, officiating. Interment was made in the family plot in Pine Grove cemetery at Nevada City. In the death of Mrs. Woodruff there passed from life the oldest resident of Columbia Hill. Tot that place she came in her early womanhood with her husband, the late A. L. Woodruff, who for many years conducted a large general store in the famous old mining camp. Mr. Woodruff died more than twenty years ago. Mrs. Woodruff was a kindly old lady who held the high esteem of a large number of friends along the ridge which was her home for so many years."
