Trixie Koontz was the beloved Golden Retriever of author Dean Koontz and his wife Gerda. She was also an author herself, writing and publishing two books with the help of her "Dad": "Life is Good! Lessons in Joyful Living" and "Christmas Is Good!: Trixie Treats And Holiday Wisdom". She was a former service dog for Canine Companions for Independence until she had to retire at three due to a problem with her elbows. The royalties of both of her books are donated to CCI. She also wrote a column for the Dean Koontz newsletter. She was put to sleep on June 30th, 2007 due to a cancerous tumor in her heart.
