Mrs. Kathern Dixon Ricks, 76 of Blackshear, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Memorial Satilla Health.
A native of Blackshear, GA and a daughter of the late James E. Dixon and Gladys Alene Boyett Dixon ; also preceded in death by her brother's: Osburn Dixon and Raymond Dixon ..
She was a 1961 graduate of Blackshear High School where she was the Salutatorian. For the past 38 years has been a bus driver for the Pierce County Board of Education.
She loved to spend time with her grandbabies and enjoyed cooking and working in her church, Hopewell Baptist Church and was in the Adult Sunday school and the Ladies Circle at Hopewell Baptist.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Rev. M. L. Ricks of Blackshear;
two sons:
David & Diane Turner
James Crawford .. all of Blackshear;
three grandchildren,
David Turner, Jr.,
Emily Turner,
Devan “Boo” Turner;
a sister:
Elvera Carter of Blackshear;
a brother,:
Oran Dixon of Blackshear;
and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Burial will be held at the Blackshear City Cemetery ...
