Infanta Caterina Micaela of Spain, Duchess of Savoy, served as regent several times during the absence of her husband, Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy. She was the younger surviving daughter of Philip II of Spain and Elisabeth of Valois, a daughter of Henry II of France and Catherine de' Medici. She was named in honor of her maternal grandmother, the Queen of France. Infanta Caterina Micaela and Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy, were married in Zaragoza on March 11, 1585.
