Mr. John H. Steinberg, 88, of 1513 W. Franklin, Street, Appleton, died Saturday, February 25, 1989 at his home. Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 902 N. Mason Street, Appleton. Rev. David Pagel will officiate with burial at Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Mr. Steinberg was born March 16, 1900 at Frankfort, Michigan, son of the late Edward and Mamie Steinberg. Mr. Steinberg was the founder of Northwest Supply Company, Inc. He was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Appleton. Mr. Steinberg enjoyed hunting, fishing and the love of outdoors.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Beverly Steinberg, Wayne and Joan Steinberg, William and Margaret Steinberg, all of Appleton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janis and Andrew Foate of Appleton and Patricia and Kenneth Hamilton of Combined Locks; a brother, Knute Steinberg of Florida; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Harriet and Gilbert Heuser, Maybelle Logan, and Evelyn and Fritz Gehrke, all of Manitowoc; a special friends of the family, Cindy McCarthy; 23 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Viola; a son, Richard Steinberg, a daughter-in-law, Sandra Jentz, an infant daughter, Shirley, three brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call at Wichmann Funeral home, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton, 4 pm to 8 pm this Monday and Tuesday at the church from 10 am until the hour of service.

Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church.
