"Those received into the Friendship Church in 1840 were: John Vice
and Mary Vice.

Received by experience and baptism: 1846 Martha Vice and Robuck Vice,
Phillip Prewitt.

Letters of dismission: 1852- John Vice and wife Mary.

Sept. 1848 charge against Robuck Vise for drinking too much spirits.

Feb. 9, 1856 Brother E.D. Lewis charged sister Martha Vice of getting
drunk and using unbecoming language.

This taken from the minutes of Friendship Meting Hous (sic). Benton
Co, AL.(now Calhoun). The church was constituted March 5, 1836 by Rev.
Wm. H. Holcomb and Hosea Rocket. It is now First Baptist Church of
Oxford, AL.

NOV. 1840 recd by letter into fellowship bro. John Vice.

Dec. 1840 recd by letter into fellowship sister Mary Vice"

John first lived in Benton Co. then in 1858 Benton was renamed to Calhoun Co.
He is listed on the 1810, 1820, 1830 census for Spartanburg Co., SC., and the 1840 and 1850 in Benton Co. AL., and the 1860 in Calhoun Co.
