CHURCH WORKER CALLED BY DEATH
Mrs. Ada Allen Vernon, 69, ardent church and temple worker, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Leslie P. Thacker, in Vernal Saturday at 12:30 of causes incident to age.
She was born November 19. 1878, in Manti, a daughter of Isaac M. and Harriet Squire Allen. She spent her youth in Manti and Idaho towns, coming to Vernal in 1898. She was married to Andrew Jackson Vernon in August of 1900 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mr. Vernon survives.
Also surviving are a son and three daughters, Mrs. Thacker, Mrs. Charles Palmer, Mrs. Lloyd Richards and Alton Vernon, all of Vernal; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a brother and sister, Orson Allen and Mrs. Elnora Vernon, both of Salt Lake City.
Mrs. Vernon for the past 10 years had spent most of her time in Salt Lake City doing work in the LDS Temple there. She returned to Vernal to the home of her daughter because of ill health. She was an active worker in the LDS church all her life.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Vernal Second Ward Chapel by Phil Watkins, bishop. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thacker in the Thacker apartments Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of services.
