Lottye 'Dickie' Odean Grigsby Falkner, 88, of Odessa, passed away on Wednesday, 2 January 2008, at Medical Center Hospital, after an extended illness. She was the daughter of Walter M. and Nettie V. Grigsby and was born on 15 Dec 1919 in Van Dyke, Comanche County, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, and loving husband, Oliver 'Glen' Falkner in 1987, of Comanche, Texas; one brother, Ory Grigsby of Midland, Texas; and one sister, Marie Grigsby Reith Elliott of Llano, Texas.
Dickie and Glen met in Comanche, Texas and married in 1938 and moved to Odessa in 1945 after WWII. Glen Falkner worked in the oilfield for 40 years with Loffland Brothers and Katty Industries where he retired from after 30 years of service. Dickie and Glen were members of the Odessa Sheriff's Posse Organization.
She is survived by her only child, Glenda Falkner of Odessa and only grandchild, Jon Falkner of Odessa; 3 sisters, Margarete Grigsby Beaty Lummus of Linden, Texas, Virginia Grigsby Adams Schumaker of Stephenville, Texas, and Beth Grigsby Scoggins of San Angelo, Texas. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Wanda Falkner Weems of Lovington, NM and Jackie Falkner of Casper, WY and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 2:30p.m., Sunday, 6 Jan 2008, at Heartland Funeral Home in Comanche, Texas with Rev. Harold Glen Shaffer officiating. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche. Visitation was from 2:00-4:00p.m. on Sat., 5 Jan 2008 at Heartland Funeral Home.
