Mr. J.D. Murray, 73, of Hickory Withe, TN, retired steam engineer from W.R. Grace Chemical Company after 30 years, died Monday, November 4, 2002 at his home. Services were held at noon Thursday November 7, 2002 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. He was a member of Hickory Withe Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 745 and worked for Sky-View Baptist Academy School and Church. He was also a Navy veteran. Mr. Murray was also known to his family and friends by his nickname of "Benny".
Mr. Murray, the husband of Dorothy Caldwell Murray, also leaves two sons, Joseph Daniel Murray III of Collierville, TN and James David Murray of Hickory Withe, TN; a daughter, Jeanette Dawn Murray Gipson of Hickory Withe, TN; three sisters, June Murray Williams and Leigh Murray Lopez both of Brinkley, AR and Nan Murray Hutchins of Hunter, AR and five grandchildren, Benjamin, Ashley & Matthew Murray of Hickory Withe, TN; Elizabeth and Sarah Murray of Collierville, TN. He was proceeded in death by his oldest son, Benny Murray, who died at birth.
