there are 2 headstones for Eli- one is very old, and lists him as a Colonel(this is from serving with the Virginia Militia) PRIOR to his enlistment in the Civil War and also has Senna Hale Cornett's name on that stone-
The stone you are looking at now was put there around the 1960's and lists him as a Private in the Confederate Army- Both stones are correct.

NOTE-Many have questioned Eli having enlisted as private in the Confederate army when he was a higher ranking officer in the Militia. The Fact is- YOU WERE APPOINTED RANK by social standing in the Confederate Army.
He was my one of my father's great great great grandfathers.
