On the evening of February 14, surrounded by her loving family Jeanette Christian passed away in St. George, Utah, her home for the past 10 years.
Jeanette Marjorie Olauson was born May 30, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Margaret Childs and Clarence Ludwig Olauson. She was the oldest of five siblings.

The first 10 years of her life were spent in California. As her asthma worsened, the doctors suggested they move to a drier climate, so they moved to Utah where she spent the rest of her childhood. She attended Horace Mann Junior High school where she was captain of the women’s basketball team. Her sophomore year was spent at West High School, then when the family moved to Holladay, she attended Granite High. She participated in Glee Club and enjoyed being part of a production of Brigadoon.

Jeanette worked as a dental assistant during her summers in high school working for several different dentists as she learned the dental profession. Although shorthand and typing were not her favorite subject, she became proficient and was able to use those skills later in life as a secretary at UC Berkley.

She married Dale C. Perry in 1953 and they divorced in 1962.
After marrying Duane Christian in 1966 in the California Oakland Temple, they lived in Carson City, Nevada, where Duane had a thriving dental practice. Jeanette was often in the office to lend a hand in various capacities. They loved living in Nevada with its rich outdoor opportunities. Lake Tahoe was a fun place to recreate with the family. They lived in Minden, Nevada for 10 years and then moved to Providence Utah where they lived for five years before relocating to St. George.
Jeanette was devoted to her husband, their eight children, and her God. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many church positions in her life but loved working in the Primary. She and her husband served a full-time mission from 1999-2001 in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. She most recently served as a teacher in the Relief Society and loved learning about the gospel so she could teach others.

Jeanette blessed all that sat at her table with her wonderful culinary skills. You could always count on a wonderful meal or a treat from her candy dish. She was trained in Interior Decorating and Design, making every home she lived in a warm and cozy abode in addition to helping others with their home. Even her last apartment at Spring Gardens had her special touch.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her younger siblings Thomas and Karla, who died in infancy, and her husband of 51 years, Duane Elmer Christian. She is survived by their eight children: David Perry (Joanne), LouAnn Rice (Bob), Caulene Henderson (Steve), Sherese Chrétien (Bhati Jayasuriya), Shelly Stradling (Stanley), Lara Evans, Apryl Christian, Michael Christian (Debbie), and siblings Ronald Olauson and Douglas Olauson.

She loved her family and enjoyed their company and was blessed with 27 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her well.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions related to this, a memorial service has been postponed until the family can safely gather. She will be interred with her husband in the Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George on March 28, 2020.
