Veteran of World War II. Private - United States Army. Recipient of the Purple Heart.

Juan Ramรญrez enlisted in January 21, 1941 in the 141st Infantry. He joined the U.S. Army one month after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. He landed in Oran, Algeria in North Africa and fought his way to Sicily, Italy ending up in Northern France. He was an M-1 Infantry Rifleman and Ammunition Bearer. He made sure soldiers had artillery and ammunition at all times. Juan and about half dozen soldiers took a wrong turn and ended in enemy territory and were captured - POW. During a different battle, Juan was wounded on his right arm and leg with an enemy grenade shrapnel. Later, he was also stab in the neck with a bayonet while in hand to hand combat. The Nazis and the Italians were defeated with the help of the American military and Great Britain's Army.

For his service, Juan was awarded the following medals and recognitions: Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, American Defense Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal, and European-African-Middle Eastern Medal.
