Carrie May Hall was born on January 31, 1866 to Benjamin J. and Ruth S (Cox) Hall. She grew up in Fremont, Sandusky Ohio, with siblings Emma Lucinda, Elsa, Edward Everett, Wilbur E, and Benjamin Jr.

Carrie and Benjamin Jr. lived in their parents' home until 1910, their father and mother having died in 1902 and 1908 respectively.

Carrie was a dressmaker living on Kenilworth Ave. in Toledo, Lucas, Ohio when she married Schuyler Colfax Williams on October 25, 1911. It was her first marriage and Schuyler's third.

Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Miller, Indiana. In the spring of 1913, Carrie and Schuyler moved to Valparaiso, Porter, Indiana, where they lived the rest of their lives. Carrie died on May 31, 1937. Schuyler died in 1941.
