He entered the Juniorate in 1944 and the Novitiate in 1947 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on June 1, 2005, in Memphis, Tennessee, and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Memphis.

Gerald Francis Wegener was born on January 22, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Frank and Bernice Julia Cronin Wegener. He was one of four children and attended Christ the King Grade School before entering CBCHS in St. Louis in 1942. He entered the Juniorate in March of 1944 and the Novitiate in August of 1947. He completed his undergraduate degree from St. Mary's College in Winona and was assigned to St. George High School in Evanston, Illinois. He spent one year there and was assigned for the next two years at De La Salle High School in Chicago, Illinois. In August of 1954, Jerome was transferred to St. Mel High School in Chicago and spent two years there before being assigned to Price College High School in Amarillo, Texas in 1956. Each summer he continued his studies for his master's degree and in 1958, while completing his next assignment at De La Salle High School in Kansas City, Missouri, Jerome received his Master of Arts degree in Education from St. Mary's College in Winona. In August of 1958 he was assigned to Christian Brothers College in Memphis where he "taught religion, drawing, chemistry, physics, math, and helped out in the print shop." When the Computer Center was built on campus, he took an immediate interest and became a "quick expert" in programming. He continued graduate studies at Louisiana State University, Columbia University in New York, Manhattan College and Fordham Universities in New York City, and at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he received his Ed. D. in 1974. Five years after coming to CBU he was appointed Registrar and he remained in that position for thirty years. In 1993 he was named Director of Institutional Research and served in that position until 2002 when he became Coordinator of Academic Statistics. Jerome remained in that position until his death in 2005. He had served at CBU for forty-eight years, was seventy-six years old at the time of his death, and he had been a De La Salle Christian Brother for fifty-nine years.
