James F. “Jim” Ondo, 85, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at his residence. Jim was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 30, 1930 to Joseph and Mary (Faulconer) Ondo. He retired from UAW Local 12 serving as International Representative and Educational Director. On December 25, 1971, he married the love of his life, Ann Newhouse. Jim spent countless hours on Lake Erie as a walleye slayer and gifted many friends and family with his bountiful catches. He also enjoyed hunting in Wyoming where he made many fond memories. Jim will be remembered as “Papa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with their many friends. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and was a fixture at his grandchildrens’ activities. Jim will be remembered as a generous person who donated his time and talents to the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and the Democratic Party.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Kim (Rick) Peppers, Lisa (Jerry) Laberdee, and Michele (Don) Davis; son, Robert (Teresa) Ondo; grandchildren, Rachel, Jarret, Lexi, Zach, Cassi, and Austin; great-grandchildren, Ivy, Jacob, and Kaleb; sister, Lois Urbanski; along with many loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ann.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until time of sharing of memories at 7:00 p.m. Private interment will take place. Expressions of sympathy may be directed in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross.
