He later moved to Houston, Texas where later he met and married a widow by the name of Jo Evelyn Franklin Petrich.
They moved to Palestine, Texas to be near her family, as she was raised in Elkhart, Texas.

Services for Gunter Haussler, 66, of Palestine were held Tuesday at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart with Dr. Stephen Holcombe officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
Mr. Haussler died Monday at his residence.
