Husband of Susan (Willis) Page with whom he had at least three children including: Bertha, Melvin Wesley and Effie Page. Silas was married first to Nancy (Hardesty) Page (1843-1877). Nancy died at age 34. She was the daughter of Robert James Hardesty and Catherine (Todd) Hardesty. Silas had at least three children with Nancy as well including: Robert William, Charles and Kate Page.

Silas was the son of Wesley Page and Matilda (Chrispin) Page. He had a twin brother named Thomas Page who is buried in Squire Boone Cemetery in Boone County, Iowa.

Silas was a Sergeant in the Union Army in the Civil War. He enlisted a as a private on April 22, 1861 in Company B, 12th Ohio Infantry and was musted out on August 22, 1861 in the same company. He then enlisted in Company H, 39th Ohio Infantry as a Corporal and was mustered out on July 9, 1865 as a Sergeant in Louisville, Kentucky. Silas was a soldier through the entire Civil War. He fought at Corinth, Kenesaw Mountain and Atlanta among other engagements.

Served as private 12th Reg Co. B Ohio Infantry and as Sgt Co H 39th Ohio Inf. Civil war pension index card has that he died in 1909.
