Bobbye Trantham Burroughs, 88, of Iola, Texas (formerly of Wells, Texas) passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020.

Bobbye was born to Robert Ellis Trantham and Dora (Muckelroy) Trantham May 26, 1931 in Jacksonville, Texas. She graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1947. She married Roy Burroughs in 1949 and after living in several towns in East Texas, they retired to Wells, Texas in 1984. Bobbye enjoyed a long career at Champion Paper and was very active in her community through her service in the VFW and her membership in her church, Falvey Memorial United Methodist Church, where she loved singing in the choir on Sundays.

She leaves as her legacy her daughter, Lynn Scott and husband Randy as well as five grandchildren - Emily Rickman and husband Chris, Heather Pulaski and husband Scott, Brad Scott and wife Brooke, Andy Scott and Kayla Burroughs. She also leaves to cherish her memory seven great-grandchildren who were her absolute delight - Sam and Nate Rickman, Josh and Claire Pulaski, Sarah and Hannah Scott and Kynlee Yeager. Her family will remember her dearly any time they tend their flower gardens, cook a big family supper, or sit down to a rousing game of Mexican train or 42 dominos. She is also survived by her sister, Elece Stephens, many nieces and nephews, and friends she considered family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Burroughs, her son, Terry Burroughs, and her sisters, Jane Simoneau and Flo Renta, as well as her parents.

The family will be having a private burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in the summer.

The family requests that donations be made to Falvey Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 40, Wells, Texas 75976.
