Miss Frances Hathaway passed away in a nursing home in Binghamton on Saturday, February 9, 1952, following a short illness. Miss Hathaway was born at Kelsey, N.Y., on September 11, 1864, a daughter of the late Mary Miner and Amasa Hathaway. She lived nearly all her life at Kelsey. After the death of her sister, Mrs. Edward Seymour, she devoted her life to her sister's family and for the past eight years had resided with a niece, Mrs. Gertrude Wright, at Vestal, N.Y. For many years she had been very deaf and for several years she suffered with arthritis. In spite of these afflictions, she was always cheerful and loved by all who knew her. She was the oldest living member of the Cannonsville Presbyterian Church. Miss Hathaway is survived by one sister, Isabelle, of Chatham, N.J., a niece, Gertrude , mentioned above, four nephews, Clarke and Robert Seymour, Kelsey; Roscoe Seymour, Johnson City; Everett Seymour, also several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Miss Hathaway were held at Henderson's Funeral Chapel, Hancock, on Tuesday, February 12, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. James H. Underwood was the officiating clergyman. Her remains were placed in the receiving vault at Riverview Cemetery. Burial will be made at a later date in the cemetery at Cannonsville, NY.
