Rites Announced for Claud Short
Funeral services for Claud (Polk) Short of Needham Township will be conducted in the Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
The Rev. C. E. Rusk, of South Bend, a former pastor of the Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, will be in charge of the services. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home at any time until the services and are invited to attend the rites.
Mr. Short had been in failing health for a year and a half and when his condition became serious five weeks ago, he was admitted to the Johnson County Memorial Hospital. He died there at 12:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
Native of County
The son of the late George and Milianda Hord Short, Mr. Short was born Nov. 25, 1888, in the Pisgah community and attended the schools in Nineveh township. He was known to his family and friends as "Polk".
On March 17, 1909, Mr. Short and Pearl Coffman were married, and two children were born to them. With the exception of two years when they were residents of Henry County, the Shorts had resided on a farm in Johnson County.
As a young man he attended the Nineveh Christian Church and after moving to his present home, he had attended the Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
Those who survive with the widow are a son, Ernest Short, a daughter, Mrs. Jarvis Alexander, of Franklin; four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Others remaining are two brothers and two sisters: Ralph Short, of Franklin; Noah Short, of Cambridge City; Mrs. William (Minnie) Edwards of Southport; and Mrs. Ida Kirkpatrick of Indianapolis.
